My most recent trip to Dublin was back in August when i went over for a few days with my sister to celebrate my birthday.
We stayed at The Morgan hotel in Temple Bar which is right in the heart of the city and literally on the doorstep of the many pubs and bars of Dublin’s cultural quarter and walking distance of shopping areas like Grafton Street. The hotel is a boutique style design hotel with a contemporary feel and unique interiors, it also has a trendy cocktail bar and live music in the evenings.
One thing i love about Dublin is the music scene, so alot of the trip – like many – was spent enjoying the live music on offer in the pubs of Temple bar over a few Jameson’s! Theres a real mix of both traditional Irish music and contemporary current music from amazingly talented musicians and as the Irish say,its great Craic! 🙂
My birthday was spent having a nice chilled out, girly day enjoying some retail therapy on Grafton street and an Irish coffee at the Bailey bar before having a bit of a pamper in the afternoon with a lovely blow dry at Preen hair and beauty on Dame street – they even gave me a cupcake and a cheeky glass of Prosecco, who doesn’t love a blow dry with bubbles! – definitely my idea of perfect pampering! 🙂 In the evening before heading back into Temple bar we went to Toscana on Dame street for dinner which is a lovely Italian restaurant that serves great food made from home grown, organic produce from their family farm in County Wicklow. Their pasta is amazing!
All in all it was a great trip with great food, great company and great music and being able to spend some time with my sister in my favourite city and celebrate my birthday there was the cherry on the cake! – bring on the next birthday trip! 🙂
