Stoke Park stop over

As a conference and events consultant in the events industry I am very lucky to have lots of opportunities to visit and experience different hotels around the UK.

One of my favourite overnight stays I have been on was at Stoke Park, a lovely, luxury 5-star hotel with beautiful grounds set within a 300-acre private estate in the Buckinghamshire country side close by to the famous Pinewood studios. The hotel is well known for featuring in the film Bridget Jones Diary when Daniel whisks Bridget away for a romantic mini break and they go rowing on the club’s lake, there have also been two James Bond films filmed here as well as scenes from the films Wimbledon and Layer Cake.

We stayed in bedrooms in The Pavilion which is within the Spa part of the hotel, they are very modern, spacious and contemporary in style with different pieces of quirky artwork in each room, very different in comparison to the bedrooms in the main house- The Mansion which are all very traditional and classic in style with lots of dark woods, fine arts and antique details. During the stay, we were treated to a lovely sit-down dinner in their fine dining restaurant Humphry’s after starting the evening with a drinks reception with champagne and canapés by the fire place and a show round of the hotels facilities and finishing up in the bar for after dinner drinks, coffees and petit fours – Any evening that starts with bubbles and ends with Whiskey is a winner in my book! 😊

Breakfast was also amazing with lots of choice of both cereals, fruits and continental options and a hot menu to order from which includes traditional cooked breakfasts as well as smoked salmon, French toast and pancakes all cooked fresh to order. Breakfast was served in the beautiful orangery which was really lovely as you have the stunning views of the grounds around you, they also use this space to serve their afternoon tea.

The hotel has such a nice, warm and friendly atmosphere and the staff make you feel comfortable and welcome from the moment you arrive, it’s a really lovely place to relax and the perfect retreat for a chilled weekend away. There’s lots of outdoor space to walk around and explore the grounds and activities like Golf, Tennis and spa treatments on offer as well as an onsite gift shop too.

I like that your stay started “with bubbles and ends with whiskey”! I should definitely look into a treat get away here.
